  • 15-11 Mental Health Adult Intensive Case Manager (full-time): This position is responsible for providing case management services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who require intensive services to successfully be served in the community. These services may include:  pre-admission screening, pre-admission and discharge planning, services coordination and delivery, assistance in accessing needed medical, psychiatric, social, educational, vocational and other supports, as required, and casework documentation. Traditional and non-traditional counseling, direct care, supportive services, and advocacy are critical. Knowledge of the nature of serious mental illness in adults and serious emotional disturbances in children and adolescents.  Knowledge of the treatment modalities and intervention techniques, such as behavior management, independent living skills training, supportive counseling, family education, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and service coordination.  Knowledge of different types of assessments, including functional assessment, and their uses in service planning.  Knowledge of individuals' rights. Knowledge of local community resources and service delivery systems, including support services, eligibility criteria and intake processes, termination criteria and procedures, and generic community resources.  Knowledge of types of mental health programs and services.  Knowledge of effective oral, written and interpersonal communication principles and techniques. Skill in interviewing. Skill in observing, recording and reporting on an individual's functioning. Skill in identifying and documenting an individual's needs for resources, services and other supports.Skill in using information from assessments, evaluations, observation and interviews to develop service plans. Skill in identifying services within the community and established service system to meet the individual's needs. Skill in formulating, writing, and implementing individualized service plans to reach goal attainment for seriously mentally ill and emotionally disturbed persons. Skill in negotiating with individuals and service providers. Skill in coordinating the provision of services by diverse public and private providers. Skill in identifying community resources and organizations and coordinating resources and activities. Skill in using assessment tools (e.g. level of function scale, life profile scale). Ability to demonstrate a positive regard for individuals and their families (e.g. treating individuals as individuals, allowing risk taking, avoiding stereotypes of mentally ill people, respecting individuals' and families' privacy, believing individuals are valuable members of society). Ability to be persistent and remain objective. Ability to work as a team member, maintaining effective inter- and intra-agency working relationships. Ability to work independently, performing position duties under general supervision. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Master’s Degree in the Behavioral Sciences and one year of experience with the chronically mentally ill population.  State certification as a Qualified Pre-screener.  Valid Virginia Driver’s License.  Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.  Annual salary $49,868 + benefits.

  • 15-09 Veteran Peer Specialist with the VA Wounded Warrior Program in Spotsylvania (full-time): Provides peer support to veterans and their families in the Fredericksburg and surrounding areas.  Office is based in Spotsylvania.  Position provides peer support services to veterans and their families for the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, Region I.  Services are provided to veterans by assisting in the navigation of services and resources which address the need presented by the veteran. This requires the continual development of a service resource network for veterans. Qualified candidates must have the ability to facilitate combat peer support groups.  Position requires the ability to connect with combat veterans at a peer level.  Required:  Must be Military Veteran in any service branch with an Honorable Discharge. Must provide DD214 or other official proof of military service.   • 15-02 Emergency Services Therapist at the Fredericksburg Clinic (full-time): Assesses the general psychological and medical status of individuals referred to the agency for services and determines and arranges for appropriate treatment providers or personally provides direct therapeutic treatment on an emergency basis. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques involved in the diagnosis and general treatment of the substance abusive, mentally and/or emotionally disabled population. Thorough knowledge of individual management guidelines for Virginia. Thorough knowledge of the laws and legal procedures relating to involuntary hospital admission.   • 14-298 Mental Health/Substance Abuse Outpatient Therapist at the Stafford County Clinic (part-time): This position provides direct therapeutic treatment services to individuals with mentally illness and/or emotional disabilities and individuals with substance use disorder. Work entails diagnosis, treatment planning, implementing counseling and case management.   • 14-286 Mental Health Nurse at Sunshine Lady House for Mental Health Wellness and Recovery Program (full-time): Serves as the primary nursing position in the Crisis Stabilization Program, a 24/7 highly intensive mental health residential treatment facility for persons experiencing serious psychiatric or behavioral problems which jeopardize their current community living. This position assists the staff psychiatrist and nurse practitioner in the prescription, administration and monitoring of medication, discharge planning and general daily patient care. This position works an 8 to 10 hour shift on a rotating schedule, including weekends, and while on shift serves as the lead health care provider. Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatric nursing.   • 14-251 Mental Health Nurse at the Fredericksburg Clinic (full-time): This position assists the staff psychiatrists in the prescription, administration and monitoring of medications.   • 14-217 Substance Abuse Coordinator II at the Fredericksburg Clinic (full-time): This position is responsible for program planning and development for treatment programs for women with substance use disorders and their families, Adult and Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts, substance abuse case management, and for serving as a resource and planning specialist with respect to the agency’s substance abuse programs. The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge of individual, family and group treatment theories and techniques relating to clients with substance use disorders, and other behavioral health disorders; knowledge of medical providers, social services and other agencies and community organizations providing services to people with substance use disorders and other clients with behavioral health disorders; ability to supervise, evaluate and coordinate the work of a group of clinicians.  Experience with Drug Treatment Courts and people who are mandated to participate in treatment; experience with co-occurring disorders.   • 14-105 Psychiatrist (full-time): This position performs medical, diagnostic, and treatment services for the agency's outpatients receiving services. The successful candidate will possess a through knowledge of:  the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatry; the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of psychotropic medication; and the principles, practices and techniques related to individual therapy and counseling practices for the mentally ill.   • 15-04 Mental Health Residential Counselor I at Lafayette Boulevard Boarding House (part-time): Supervises and provides independent living skills instruction to adults with severeand persistent mental illness in a residential or home setting. This position carries out instructional programs developed for the individual resident. Some knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of instruction for persons with long-term or persistent mental illness. Some knowledge of effective supportive counseling practices and techniques. Some knowledge of behavior management practices and techniques applicable to persons with long-term or persistent mental illness. Good knowledge of common housekeeping practices.   • 14-281 Children’s Intellectual Disability Support Coordinator in Spotsylvania County (part-time): This position is responsible for coordinating service delivery to children with developmental delays, ages 3 years old to 14 years old,  through outreach, assessment, service linkage, monitoring and advocacy activities. Incumbent prepares Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and interacts with schools and community service providers. Knowledge of interviewing and supportive counseling techniques. Knowledge of social casework techniques. Knowledge of the definition, causes and program philosophy of intellectual disabilities and developmental delays in birth to 3 years of age. Knowledge of the different types of assessments and their uses in program planning. Knowledge of individuals’ rights. Knowledge of local service delivery systems, including support services. Knowledge of the types of intellectual disabilities programs and services. Knowledge of effective oral, written and interpersonal communication principles and techniques. Knowledge of general principles of record documentation.   • 14-279 Day Support Aide at Rappahannock Adult Activities (PRN): This position collects data, instructs and monitors adults, with intellectual disabilities, in basic social, personal leisure, and vocational skills in a community­based setting. Good knowledge of vocational rehabilitative programs and instruction techniques in the work setting assigned. Knowledge of the behavioral needs associated with persons with intellectual disabilities. Skill in establishing on­going rapport and communication with non­verbal participants. Skill in supervising and instructing on an individual and group basis. Ability to keep accurate records and prepare daily reports. Ability to communicate instructions. Skill in training, teaching, and coaching people with disabilities. Ability to respond to crisis situations both behaviorally and medically. Working knowledge of proper body mechanics/lifting skills. Valid state driver's license. This position will support all day support sites on an as needed basis, Monday through Friday, hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Hourly rate $12.50.

  • 14-197, 14-265, and 14-273 Day Support Specialist at Rappahannock Adult Activities (part-time; three positions): This position develops and implements an instructional program for the development of independent living and vocational skills of adults with intellectual disabilities in an activity center and on-the-job training program.   • 14-88 Intellectual Disability Support Coordination Supervisor in Caroline County (full-time): This position supervises the recruitment, training, and work of assigned Support Coordinators. The Supervisor is responsible for intake/admission to the Intellectual Disability (ID) service delivery system and monitoring of ID Statewide Waiver Waiting List. The incumbent is responsible for providing case management services to individuals with an intellectual disability, which includes: outreach, assessment, service linkage, monitoring and advocacy functions. Traditional and non-traditional counseling, direct care and supportive services are critical.   • 14-301 Intellectual Disability Residential Counselor I at Galveston Road Group Home (full time; one position): Supervises and provides independent living skills instruction to adults with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting. This position carries out instructional programs developed for the individual resident. Assists with resident hygiene, meal preparation, household duties and community outings.   • 14-296 Nurse (LPN) at Lucas Street Intermediate Care Facility (full-time): Provides direct care, assessment assistance, medical services and supports to residents of the Intermediate Care Facility for adults with an Intellectual Disability. This position works an 8 to 10 hour shift on a rotating evenings and weekend schedule. Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to Licensed Practical Nursing in Virginia. Experience working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability. Ability to follow standards of operation set forth by the RACSB.  Completion of training for LPN with at least one year experience working in the medical and behavioral health field working persons with intellectual/developmental disability, co-occurring diagnosis or equivalent education/experience. Valid Virginia L.P.N. license. Valid Virginia driver’s license. Must be able to work all shifts, including overnights, weekends and holidays. This position is located in Spotsylvania County.   • 14-290 Group Home Manager at Ross Drive/Lucas Street Intermediate Care Facilities (full-time): This position manages the operation of Intermediate Care Facility homes for adults with intellectually disabled (ID).  Work involves: supervising and providing direct care to residents; administration; facility management.  Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques related to the care and treatment of individuals with intellectual disabilities.  Thorough knowledge of program development and maintenance, including state and local licensure policies and procedures; intra and inter agency cooperation; record keeping; supervision and evaluation.   • 14-283 Assistant Manager at Churchill Drive Group Home (full-time): This position plans, implements and evaluates individualized social and living skills development programs for residents who have intellectual disabilities who live in the community in a residential program, with family, in a supervised apartment setting, etc. Incumbent performs supportive level counseling and training functions. Position provides back-up support to other residential programs. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of instruction for intellectually disabled persons. Must possess at least one year of documented work experience with individuals who have intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities and one of the following: a doctor of medicine or osteopathy, a registered nurse, or holds at least a Bachelor’s degree in human services field including, but not limited to sociology, social work, special education, rehabilitation counseling, and psychology. Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Selected candidate will be expected to work days, nights, weekends, overnights, and holidays, with various shifts.  Must be flexible for on call, emergencies and other group home management needs. Salary $37,700 + benefits.

  • 14-192 Quality Assurance Manager at the Fredericksburg Clinic (full-time): This position oversees Evaluation and Utilization Review; medical record management, and health and safety activities for the Agency. Facilitates the internal review and evaluation of all agency programs, documentation, medical records, and related management policies and procedures.  Reviews operating manuals; monitors compliance with DBHDS quality improvement performance contract requirements, CARF accreditation standards, and the agency’s health and safety program. Educates staff regarding Magellan, DMAS regulations and requirements, and agency policies.  Quality of individual treatment, program, productivity, flexibility, sensitivity, conformance to regulations are analyzed personally or by committees coordinated and directed by the incumbent. The successful candidate will possess: considerable knowledge of quality assurance program activities and requirements; working knowledge of licensure, certification, utilization review, and evaluation standards; basic clinical practices and service delivery requirements of professionals in the community service board system; and essential risk management issues. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; evaluate program needs and utilize available resources effectively and prepare related documentation and reports; and review of agency policies and procedures in licensed program areas.
