This position assists the staff psychiatrist and nurse practitioner in the prescription, administration and monitoring of medication, discharge planning and general daily patient care. This position works an 8 to 10 hour shift on a rotating schedule, including weekends, and while on shift serves as the lead health care provider.   • 14-282 Psychosocial Advocate at Kenmore Club (full-time): Provides services and support to long-term clubhouse (day support program) members with mental illness, including pre‑vocational training, vocational training, outreach, and supportive counseling. Incumbent may supervise the preparation of lunch for all program participants, a clerical unit, do outreach and home visiting, and supervises the preparation of statistical reporting or a program maintenance unit staffed by program participants. Good knowledge of the practices and techniques of rehabilitative vocational training in "club‑house" setting. Some knowledge of social casework management and of supportive level counseling practices. Ability to lead the work of others. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.   • 14-272 and 14-274 Emergency Services Therapist – Fredericksburg (full-time): Assesses the general psychological and medical status of individuals referred to the agency for services and determines and arranges for appropriate treatment providers or personally provides direct therapeutic treatment on an emergency basis. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques involved in the diagnosis and general treatment of the substance abusive, mentally and/or emotionally disabled population.   • 14-251 Mental Health Nurse at the Fredericksburg Clinic (full-time): This position assists the staff psychiatrists in the prescription, administration and monitoring of medications.   • 14-243 Mental Health Therapist (Virginia Licensed) at Rappahannock Juvenile Center (full-time): This position provides direct therapeutic treatment and educa­tional services to substance abusive individuals less than eighteen years of age and their families or children of substance abusing par­ents.  Conducts intake interviews and develops diag­nosis and treatment plans.  Prepares lesson plans and training materials for education­al/treatment programming. Prepares progress notes and other records on individual progress and contacts and prepares related reports. Provides crisis intervention services.  Inputs psychological data for individual placements, care and treatment.  Consults with school and juvenile court officials, agency treatment staff and representatives of other agencies or programs and provides and coordinates individual case manage­ment services including outreach and discharge planning. Provides expert testimony in court and legal proceedings.   • 14-217 Substance Abuse Coordinator II at the Fredericksburg Clinic (full-time): This position is responsible for program planning and development for treatment programs for women with substance use disorders and their families, Adult and Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts, substance abuse case management, and for serving as a resource and planning specialist with respect to the agency’s substance abuse programs. The successful candidate will possess advanced knowledge of individual, family and group treatment theories and techniques relating to clients with substance use disorders, and other behavioral health disorders; knowledge of medical providers, social services and other agencies and community organizations providing services to people with substance use disorders and other clients with behavioral health disorders; ability to supervise, evaluate and coordinate the work of a group of clinicians.  Experience with Drug Treatment Courts and people who are mandated to participate in treatment; experience with co-occurring disorders.   • 14-105 Psychiatrist (full-time): This position performs medical, diagnostic, and treatment services for the agency's outpatients receiving services. MENTAL HEALTH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

  • 14-291 Mental Health Supervised Apartment Manager at Bridgewater Street (full-time): This position manages the operation of the Mental Health Bridgewater Supervised Apartment Program for seriously mentally ill persons. Work involves supervising and providing direct care to residents/individuals, administration and facility management.  Implementation of Medicaid SPO residential services.  Works evenings, nights and weekends as needed.  May be required to work back-to-back shifts during staff shortages.  Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques related to the care and treatment of the long-term mentally ill population. Thorough knowledge of program development and maintenance, including state and local licensing policies and procedures, intra- and interagency cooperation, record keeping, supervision and evaluation.   • 14-294 and 14-295 Intellectual Disability Residential Counselor I at Ross Drive Intermediate Care Facility (part-time; two positions): Supervises and provides independent living skills instruction to adults with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting at an intermediate care facility. This position carries out instructional programs developed for the individual resident. Assists with resident hygiene, meal preparation, household duties and community outings. The successful candidate should possess: knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of instruction for persons with intellectual disabilities and/or mental illness; knowledge of effective supportive counseling practices and techniques; knowledge of behavior management practices and techniques; ability to physically assist residents who may be of limited mobility; and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, essential. High school diploma and experience in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or combination of education and experience to produce necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.   • 14-281 Children’s Intellectual Disability Support Coordinator in Spotsylvania County (part-time): This position is responsible for coordinating service delivery to children with developmental delays, ages 3 years old to 14 years old,  through outreach, assessment, service linkage, monitoring and advocacy activities. Incumbent prepares Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and interacts with schools and community service providers. Knowledge of interviewing and supportive counseling techniques. Knowledge of social casework techniques. Knowledge of the definition, causes and program philosophy of intellectual disabilities and developmental delays in birth to 3 years of age. Knowledge of the different types of assessments and their uses in program planning. Knowledge of individuals’ rights. Knowledge of effective oral, written and interpersonal communication principles and techniques. Knowledge of general principles of record documentation. Knowledge of the service planning process and the major components of a service plan. Skill in negotiating with individuals and service providers. Skill in observing, recording and reporting behaviors. Skill in identifying and documenting service needs.  Skill in coordinating the provision of services by diverse public and private providers.  Skill in analyzing and planning for the service needs of intellectually disabled persons. Ability to identify an individual’s needs for resources, services, and other assistance. Ability to identify services within the established service system to meet the individual’s needs. Ability to communicate with different people in different ways. Ability to demonstrate a positive regard for individuals and their families (e.g. treating individuals as individuals, allowing risk taking, avoiding stereotypes of intellectually disabled people, respecting individuals and families privacy, believing individuals can grow).   • 14-279 Day Support Aide at Rappahannock Adult Activities (PRN): This position collects data, instructs and monitors adults, with intellectual disabilities, in basic social, personal leisure, and vocational skills in a community­based setting. Good knowledge of vocational rehabilitative programs and instruction techniques in the work setting assigned. Knowledge of the behavioral needs associated with persons with intellectual disabilities. Skill in establishing on­going rapport and communication with non­verbal participants. Skill in supervising and instructing on an individual and group basis. Ability to keep accurate records and prepare daily reports. Ability to communicate instructions. Skill in training, teaching, and coaching people with disabilities. Valid state driver's license. This position will support all day support sites on an as needed basis, Monday through Friday, hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Hourly rate $12.38.

  • 14-197, 14-265, 14-266, and 14-273 Day Support Specialist at Rappahannock Adult Activities (part-time; four positions): This position develops and implements an instructional program for the development of independent living and vocational skills of adults with intellectual disabilities in an activity center and on-the-job training program.   • 14-88 Intellectual Disability Support Coordination Supervisor in Caroline County (full-time): This position supervises the recruitment, training, and work of assigned Support Coordinators. The Supervisor is responsible for intake/admission to the Intellectual Disability (ID) service delivery system and monitoring of ID Statewide Waiver Waiting List. The incumbent is responsible for providing case management services to individuals with an intellectual disability, which includes: outreach, assessment, service linkage, monitoring and advocacy functions. Traditional and non-traditional counseling, direct care and supportive services are critical. INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY RESIDENTIAL SERVICES (Full-time)

  • 14-245 and 14-296 Nurse (LPN) at Lucas Street Intermediate Care Facility (full-time; two positions): Provides direct care, assessment assistance, medical services and supports to residents of the Intermediate Care Facility for adults with an Intellectual Disability. This position works an 8 to 10 hour shift on a rotating evenings and weekend schedule. Thorough knowledge of the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to Licensed Practical Nursing in Virginia. Experience working with individuals with an Intellectual Disability. Thorough knowl?edge of the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of medication. Basic knowledge of conditions frequently associated with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, communicable disease concepts and other infectious disease issues. Ability to follow standards of operation set forth by the RACSB.  Completion of training for LPN with at least one year experience working in the medical and behavioral health field working persons with intellectual/developmental disability, co-occurring diagnosis or equivalent education/experience.   • 14-220, 14-199, 14-189, and 14-163 Van Driver - Substitute (part-time; four positions): Provides safe and timely transportation for individuals with various physical and/or mental disabilities to and from their residences to various developmental programs provided by the Agency. The successful candidate will possess: thorough knowledge of the operating and safety practices and techniques related to driving a passenger vehicle; thorough knowledge of state and local laws governing vehicular movement on public thoroughfares; good knowledge of routine preventive maintenance practices and common mechanical failures related to the vehicle operated; good knowledge of the regional geography and major road systems; good knowledge of emergency first aid and CPR techniques; good skill in the operation of a motor vehicle; some knowledge of the common behavior of the population of individuals served by RACSB; good physical condition required to provide assistance to individuals entering and exiting the vehicles; ability to handle crisis situations and relate well with individuals served, their families and agency staff. The successful candidate must be able to work a split shift A.M./P.M., Monday through Friday. High school diploma or its equivalent and considerable driving experience, including paid experience in transporting others. Valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record required. Work involves a considerable amount of qualified typing, PC word processing and data entry, and secretarial duties.  Thorough knowledge of business office practices; good knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar; good knowledge of bookkeeping practices; good knowledge of the common terminology of the mental health field; some knowledge of the characteristics of the individual group served; good skill in the use of a typewriter and related keyboard equipment; skill in the use of fundamental business mathematics; ability to prepare and maintain records and filing system; ability to communicate effectively and establish rapport with individuals and callers to the office.
