  • 14-98  Surveillance Office for the Adult Drug Court (part-time; up to 20 hours per week): This position performs intermediate protective service work, monitoring Drug Court participants for compliance. Duties are performed in collaboration with the Drug Court Administrator and supervised by the RACSB Substance Abuse Coordinator. Duties involve monitoring, interviewing and testing Drug Court participants; preparing documentation, records and files; and coordinating participant services and data with appropriate staff and agencies.  This position requires a male Surveillance Officer due to the fact that he is responsible for observing the urine drug screens of our male participants.  The successful candidate will possess  thorough knowledge of: the rules and regulations of the agency, investigative and interviewing techniques, the Drug Court programs, services and procedures; ability to: understand and carry out oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, legal and court personnel, service providers, associates and the general public; function calmly in stressful situations, to keep records of work and to submit paperwork when required, communicate effectively, demonstrate a positive regard for the needs of the individual and to treat individuals receiving services as individu­als, avoiding stereotypes of people with disabilities; ability to work independently, performing position duties under general supervision. skill in the operation of drug testing equipment.   • 14-93 Mental Health Nurse at the Spotsylvania, King George, Caroline and Fredericksburg Clinics (full-time): This position assists the staff psychiatrists in the prescription, administration and monitoring of medications. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of: the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatric nursing; to individual therapy and counseling practices for the mentally ill; and of the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of psychotropic medication.   • 14-92 Mental Health Residential Counselor I at Lafayette Boarding House in the City of Fredericksburg (full-time): Supervises and provides independent living skills instruction to long-term mentally ill adults in a residential or home setting. This position carries out instructional programs developed for the individual resident. The successful candidate should possess some knowledge of: the principles, practices and techniques of instruction for persons with long-term or persistent mental illness, effective supportive counseling practices and techniques, behavior management practices and techniques applicable to persons with long-term or persistent mental illness; good knowledge of common housekeeping practices.   • 14-66 Substance Abuse Therapist at the Rappahannock Regional Jail (full-time): This position provides direct and indirect therapeutic care for individuals in a substance abuse treatment program at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Work entails diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation counseling. The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of:  the diagnosis and treatment of the substance abusive population and related individual, group and family therapy and counseling techniques and practices; and individual management guidelines for Virginia.   • 14-67 Psychosocial Advocate at the Kenmore Club (full-time): This position provides services and support to clubhouse (day support program) members who have long-term mental illnesses. This includes pre-vocational training, vocational training, outreach, and supportive counseling.  Incumbent may supervise the preparation of lunch for all program participants, a clerical unit, do outreach and home visiting, and supervises the preparation of statistical reporting or a program maintenance unit staffed by program participants. The successful candidate will possess good knowledge of the practices and techniques of rehabilitative vocational training in “club-house” setting and some knowledge of social casework management and of supportive level counseling.  Will also possess the ability to: lead the work of others; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; relate well to people with mental and emotional disabilities; prepare accurate financial and other reports; establish effective working relationships with participants, families, service providers and employers.   • 14-65 Mental Health/Substance Abuse Therapist (Virginia Licensed) at Stafford County Clinic: This position provides direct therapeutic treatment services to mentally ill and/or emotionally disabled and substance abusing individuals. Work entails diagnosis, treatment planning, implementing counseling and case management.   • 14-64 Juvenile Drug Court Treatment Mentor (part-time; 15 hours per week): This position provides mentoring services to participants in the Rappahannock Regional Juvenile Drug Treatment Court as a means of supporting treatment for recovery of substance abuse. The service is intended to provide participants with socialization experiences, tutoring, transportation and monitoring as a means of promoting abstinence from alcohol and drugs and involvement in activities inconsistent with criminal behavior. The successful candidate will possess general knowledge of adolescent developmental abilities, principles of family dynamics, special needs of emotionally disturbed and substance abusing adolescents. Skill in: providing for a child’s physical, personal and emotional needs; recognizing anxiety and being able to reassure the adolescent; interacting with the adolescent in age-appropriate leisure activities; listening skills and allowing participant to express him/herself in a constructive manner.   • 12-134 Psychiatrist (full-time): This position performs medical, diagnostic, and treatment services for the agency’s outpatients receiving services. The successful candidate will possess a through knowledge of:  the principles, standards, practices and techniques related to psychiatry; the characteristics and precautions to be taken in the administration of psychotropic medication; and the principles, practices and techniques related to individual therapy and counseling practices for the mentally ill. MENTAL HEALTH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

  • 14-83 Mental Health Residential Specialist at Lafayette Boarding House (full-time):  This position provides residential services to the Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI) population of this community.  This position involves overnight, weekend, and shift work. Residential Services include but are not limited to:  locating housing, teaching independent living skills, coordinating recreational, social and leisure programs, providing supportive counseling, providing crisis intervention, developing service plans, advocating on the behalf of individuals, providing budget skills support, providing medication skills and medical appointment support, providing transportation, assessing potential individuals, providing documentation, teaching safety precautions, and conducting substance abuse training. The successful candidate will have good knowledge of the principles of mental health, training principles, and the principles and techniques of effective communication and decision-making;  knowledge of the treatment modalities and intervention techniques, such as behavior management, independent living skills training, supportive counseling, family education, crisis intervention, discharge planning and service coordination; knowledge of different types of assessments, including functional assessment, and their uses in service planning; knowledge of individual rights.  Ability to establish effective working relationships with others including individuals with serious mental illnesses; ability to prepare written correspondence and detailed reports and to maintain individual records; ability to function calmly in stressful situations.   • 14-94, 14-95, 14-96 and 14-97 Day Support Counselor at Rappahannock Adult Activities (four positions; part-time): This position collects data, instructs and monitors adults with intellectual disabilities in basic social, personal, leisure and vocational skills in a community based setting. The successful candidate will possess: good knowledge of vocational rehabilitative programs and instructional techniques in the work setting assigned; knowledge of the behavioral needs associated with persons with intellectual disabilities; skills in establishing on-going rapport and communication with non-verbal participants; skill in supervising and instructing on an individual and group basis; ability to keep accurate records and prepare daily reports; ability to communicate instructions; skill in training, teaching, coaching people with disabilities; ability to respond to crisis situations both behaviorally and medically; working knowledge of proper body mechanics/lifting skills; working knowledge of the community and ability to learn and develop local resources; ability to engage people with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings with meaningful activities that are entertaining and provide choices for the individual.     14-89 Intellectual Disability Support Coordinator – Adult in Caroline County (full-time): This position is responsible for providing case management services to intellectually disabled individuals, which includes: outreach, assessment, service linkage, and monitoring and advocacy functions.  Traditional and non-traditional counseling; direct care and supportive services are critical. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of:  interviewing and supportive counseling techniques; social casework techniques; the definition, causes and program philosophy of intellectual disabilities; the different types of assessments and their uses in program planning; individual’s rights; local service delivery systems, including support services; the types of intellectually disabled programs and services; effective oral, written and interpersonal communication principles and techniques; general principles of record documentation; the service planning process and the major components of a service plan.   • 14-88 Intellectual Disability Support Coordination Supervisor in Caroline County (full-time): This position supervises the recruitment, training, and work of assigned Support Coordinators. The Supervisor is responsible for intake/admission to the Intellectual Disability (ID) service delivery system and monitoring of ID Statewide Waiver Waiting List.   • 13-241 Day Support Aide at Rappahannock Adult Activities (substitute; part-time): This position assists in implementing instructional programs for individuals who are intellectually disabled/developmentally delayed at the Rappahannock Adult Activities Day Support Program. The successful candidate will have the ability to: communicate effectively, orally and in writing; relate well to people with mental and emotional problems; keep accurate records and prepare reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships; respond to crisis situations both behaviorally and medically; engage people with developmental disabilities in a variety of settings with meaningful activities that are entertaining and provide choices for the individual; and work in a commercial kitchen under close supervision. Preferred candidates will have working knowledge of proper body mechanics/lifting skills and of the community. High school diploma and experience with intellectually disabled adults. Hours of work are Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. May be called to work with limited advance notice.   • 14-101 Assistant Manager at Ross Drive/Lucas Street Intermediate Care Facility in Spotsylvania County (full-time) Plans, implements and evaluates individualized social and living skills development programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities who live in a residential program.   • 14-91 Intermediate Care Facility Nurse Manager (full-time): The person in this position will provide the lead supports for nursing systems for eight (8) individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in an ICF/IDD residential setting. This person will be responsible for providing hands on person centered care, coordinating the medical needs of the individuals, their clinical services and training the staff on medication administration and methods, personal care, care plan changes and proper equipment techniques. The nurse will be part of the interdisciplinary team and responsible for quarterly evaluations and annual person centered plan, along with attending appointments with the individuals (transporting in agency van), follow up on physician orders/lab work, and interfacing with pharmacy professionals. Must have the ability to learn and demonstrate compliance with certification regulations, licensing regulations for residential facilities and other applicable local, state and federal laws. The person in this position maybe called upon to provide support or service to other parts of the RACSB. The successful candidate for this position will be an experienced Registered Nurse. Monday through Friday schedule. This person will also possess a valid Virginia Registered Nurse license and a Virginia driver’s license with acceptable driving record.   • 14-87 Supervisor of the Brittany Commons Supervised Apartment Program in Spotsylvania County (full-time): Manages the operation of group home programs and facilities for adults with intellectual disabilities. Duties include: supervising and providing direct care to residents; administration; facility management; and implementation of Medicaid Waiver residential services.
